La Llorona, the Weeping Woman, is a spirit that haunts the folklore of Mexico and other Latin American countries. In some versions she's a ghost, while in others she's an immortal wanderer, not dead but not really alive either. Legend has it, La Llorona drowned her children in a river. Her spirit now wanders the shores of the river in search of her children. In all versions of the story, La Llorona can be heard weeping in the night.
